'A Sussex Highway' by Ruth Cobb
Epworth Press
Published 1953

Illustrated by the author, a story of a road and the people who walked along it from Lewes to Clayton. The book is a mix of topography, local history and anecdotes. The reader encounters travellers and inhabitants such as kings and queens, anchorites, martyrs, foreigners and evacuees on their various and not always lawful journeys.

Elena found the book in a RNIB charity shop in Bexhill on Sea. It seemed a perfect title to commence the postal project connecting us all together and a starting point in Sussex where the book was first drawn on and then sent out on its journey to all of us.
